Back in the eighties cassette tapes were considered top of the line, however almost three decades later they are as obsolete as a Commodore 64.  After all, anything that needs to be rewound or flipped half way through is way past its life expectancy in the face of digital libraries that can play for days.  The bright news for anyone who has a collection of cassette tapes getting dusty in the attic can rest easy however, since they can now salvage their collection and load it into their digital library with the ION USB Cassette Deck.

In order to start the ION USB Cassette Deck all you have to do is plug the device into your computer and the software will easily start up on any computer so that you can get to work making new additions to your digital library.  Ironically, the ION USB Cassette Deck looks like it was designed in the eighties with doors that slowly open to allow you to slip in the tape and with its own tape counter and selector.

It also comes equipped with two slots so that you can easily record from tape deck to tape deck.  Remarkably though, the technology behind the ION USB Cassette Deck is anything but, what you may have run across in the eighties.

For your ease, the device comes equipped with the EZ Tape Converter software and the Audacity software so that you can easily transfer your files into iTunes complete with album artwork and with full titles for all your tracks.  This means that not only can you start to transfer every cassette you own into iTunes, but you can even upload all of your favourite tracks from mix of tapes that have sentimental value, which is an additional advantage that you may not have even thought about.

Some of those mix tapes may play like the soundtrack to your childhood, which may unlock an entirely new realm of music indulgence within your head.  After you finish yours, you can always move on to the collections of your family and friends, as well as you discover b-sides that you forgot even existed but made an indelible mark on you at the time.  The best parts of all, as you are listening to your favourite tracks on an MP3 player you will never have to get up and flip the tape over.
